Commercials

At Slaman’s Quality Flowers one of our focuses is growing chrysanthemums, more commonly known as mums. Chrysanthemums belong to the Compositae family. Mums are short-day plants which grow well in climates of low temperature. There are a variety of ways that mums can be marketed at Slamans we produce commercials and pom chrysanthemums. Slaman’s produces white commercials year round with seasonal fall yellow and bronze; and in the winter we focus on providing red for the holiday season.

Commercial Grading

Commercials are graded into three categories. Large has a strong stem, 75 cm in length. Bloom size will be 12.5 – 15 cm in diameter. Medium is shorter in length and smaller bloom. Bloom size will range from 10 – 12.5 cm in diameter. Small grade is weak stems, small bloom or disbud. Stems may also be crooked. Bloom size is 7.5 – 10 cm with a stem length of 55 cm.
